Long-term Tasmanian local government client Glamorgan Spring Bay has successfully completed its migration from our on-premise legacy property and rating solution PropertyWise to our new web-based CouncilWise Cloud - the first Tasmanian client to do so.
With maintaining costly on-premise hardware environments becoming harder and harder in local governments across Australia, and with cloud-based corporate systems becoming increasingly prevalent, making the change made sense. Moving from a council managed server to Microsoft Azure provided a huge increase in security, while delivering 'available anywhere' capabilities so important during the COVID pandemic.
With Microsoft 365 rolled out across the organisation, their next step was to approach each of the individual corporate systems to seek upgrade/migration or replacement paths. An early adoper and trailblazer in the use of Xero within local government, GSB already had a strong understanding of cloud-based systems, and the business case was clear.
Moving files and databases, altering and modernising templates, retraining staff in the new interface - all of this is complete, and Glamorgan Spring Bay Council is now proudly running CouncilWise Cloud.
